According to information released by the OPP, officers responded to the area on May 17th after receiving reports involving a drone near the correctional facility. Police located two individuals in the area. As part of the investigation, officers seized; a drone cell phones approximately 650 grams of suspected drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine, and cannabis. The two individuals, both from Quebec, have been charged with multiple offences. According to reports we have received from our readers, the names of the accused and the charges are: Andrew MacDonald-Ely, age 31, of Gatineau, Quebec, has been charged with: mischief for allegedly obstructing, interrupting, or interfering with the lawful use, enjoyment, or operation of property. He is also charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and delivering contraband to, or receiving contraband from, an inmate. Abir Mohammed Khan, age 27, of Montreal, Quebec, is also facing the same charges. These names were originally released by Peterborough Scanner Feed The OPP says it works closely with Correctional Service Canada to help maintain the safety and security of correctional institutions and surrounding communities. That partnership includes efforts to prevent contraband from entering facilities, investigate incidents when they occur, and enforce applicable laws. Police say the trafficking of illicit substances and other contraband can create serious safety risks for correctional staff, inmates, and the public. In a media release issued today, Belleville Police say, officers were conducting a RIDE program on May 16th at approximately 1:00 a.m. when they observed a vehicle make a U-turn and accelerate quickly in the opposite direction. Police attempted to locate the vehicle and later found it on its side in a parking lot. Officers approached the vehicle and began an investigation. As a result, Kelvin Jones, age 39, of Belleville, was arrested and charged with: Dangerous operation Operation while impaired Police say Jones was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in June. No serious injuries were reported as a result of the collision. Police continue to remind drivers that impaired driving puts everyone at risk, and RIDE programs remain an important enforcement tool aimed at keeping local roads safe. According to police, officers received a report shortly after 5:30 p.m. on May 18th, 2026, regarding the theft of a community pantry located on Bridge Street West in the Municipality of Trent Hills. Investigators believe the theft occurred earlier that same day at approximately 2:15 p.m. The pantry is described as being off-white in colour with a dark brown top and bottom. Police say the pantry served as a location where anonymously donated items could be left to help members of the community experiencing hardship. Northumberland OPP are asking anyone with information regarding the theft or the current whereabouts of the pantry to contact the Campbellford Detachment at 705-653-3300 or the OPP non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122. He is now facing multiple charges following allegations of construction fraud involving two businesses in the east end of Cobourg. According to the Cobourg Police Service, the investigation began on February 2nd after members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau received reports of alleged fraud connected to two construction projects. Police say the incidents took place between October and January. Investigators learned that a contractor had reportedly been paid approximately $166,800 for electrical work and materials that were allegedly not fully completed or delivered. According to police, the contractor stopped attending the job sites and stopped communicating with the businesses, leaving both projects unfinished. On Wednesday, police arrested 32-year-old Brandon Bongard of Belleville. He has been charged with: Two counts of fraud over $5,000 Two counts of false pretence Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 Bongard was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. According to the Cobourg Police Service, the investigation began in April 2026 after police received a report of an alleged sexual assault. On May 12th, 2026, members of the Cobourg Police Service Criminal Investigation Bureau, with assistance from uniform officers, executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a residence on King Street East in Cobourg. As a result of the investigation, Kevin Bandy, age 53, of Cobourg, was arrested and charged with several offences, including: Administering a noxious thing / poisoning Possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule I substance, methamphetamine Sexual assault Sexual interference Child luring Making / accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material Police say Bandy was held for a show cause hearing. Police were called on May 9th at approximately 10:21 p.m. after receiving a report that a male was outside a residence with a firearm. According to police, the male had allegedly pointed the firearm while attempting to get the complainant to open the door. When officers arrived, they located the male and arrested him without incident. Police say officers seized a 9mm handgun and a magazine containing eight rounds. The accused, a 27-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with: Assault with a weapon Carrying a concealed weapon Breach of firearm regulation transport firearm Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose Pointing a firearm with intent He was held for a bail hearing. Belleville Police reported four separate impaired driving arrests over a three day period, with incidents involving suspected alcohol impairment, drug impairment, dangerous driving behaviour, and a fail to remain collision. The arrests took place between May 8th and May 10th in different areas of the city. All four accused were released on Undertakings with future court dates. Driver Accused of Swerving Across Roadway The first incident happened on May 8th at 9:24 p.m., when Belleville Police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in the city’s west end. Police say the vehicle had reportedly been swerving across the roadway and nearly striking other vehicles. Officers later located the vehicle and observed it cross into the oncoming traffic lane before conducting a traffic stop. As a result, Nohelia Fargas, age 45, of Belleville, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg. She was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in June. Drug Impairment Charge Laid After Traffic Stop On May 9th at 12:22 p.m., Belleville Police conducted a traffic stop in the city’s west end. Police say officers spoke with the driver and observed signs of impairment during the interaction. Terri Woodcock, age 45, of Belleville, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired by blood drug concentration. She was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in June. Arrest Made on North Front Street On May 10th at 2:18 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver on North Front Street. Officers located the vehicle, spoke with the driver, and observed signs of impairment. As a result, Justin Garcia, age 28, of Napanee, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg. He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in July. Charges Laid After Fail to Remain Collision Later on May 10th at 12:50 p.m., Belleville Police responded to a reported motor vehicle collision in the city’s east end. Police say one vehicle struck another and failed to remain at the scene. Officers located the suspect vehicle a short distance away and observed signs of impairment while speaking with the driver. Jason Hall, age 51, of Pickering, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired by alcohol, operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg, and failure to stop after an accident. He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in July. Police continue to remind the public that impaired driving remains a serious risk to everyone on the road. Anyone who suspects an impaired driver is encouraged to call 911 immediately.
