According to Belleville Police, officers responded alongside Belleville Fire and EMS on May 5th at 12:56 a.m. after receiving a report of a tent fire. When police arrived, Belleville Fire was providing medical assistance to a 53-year-old Belleville man. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and was later taken to a Toronto hospital for further care. Images Courtesy of OPP A notice for two men wanted in connection with a homicide investigation in Perth was issued today by the Ontario Provincial Police. According to information released by the OPP, officers responded to Last Duel Park on Sunday, April 12th, 2026, at approximately 3:15 p.m., after a person was found with life-threatening injuries. The individual was later pronounced deceased. Police say Joseph Armand Madore, age 34, and Brayton Kennedy, age 28, are wanted for second degree murder in connection with the investigation. Madore is described by police as 188 cm, or 6’2”, 189 pounds, with a medium build, hazel eyes, black hair and tattoos. Kennedy is described by police as 180 cm, or 5’11”, 260 pounds, with brown hair, blue eyes and a tattoo on his forehead above his left eyebrow. The OPP is advising the public not to approach either individual if seen. Anyone who sees them, or has information about their whereabouts, is asked to contact police immediately. Anyone with information regarding the investigation or the whereabouts of the wanted individuals is asked to contact the Lanark County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Lanark County is located in eastern Ontario and includes communities such as Carleton Place, Perth, Mississippi Mills, Beckwith, Drummond/North Elmsley, Lanark Highlands, Montague and Tay Valley. Police say the two men may also be found in surrounding areas, including Smiths Falls or Frontenac County. Police continue to ask anyone with information to come forward. Belleville Police say officers were called on April 30th at approximately 2:58 p.m. after receiving reports that a male was walking alone up Front Street while swinging an axe. Officers located the suspect and made an arrest. Belleville Police say the investigation began on April 29th after receiving a report that a male had attended the school, approached students and threatened them with a knife. According to police, the male allegedly displayed the handle of a knife that was concealed inside a backpack. On April 30th, as a result of the investigation, police arrested a 16-year-old Belleville male. His identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was charged with: Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose Carrying a concealed weapon Uttering threats, cause death or bodily harm Assault with a weapon Fail to comply with a release order Fail to comply with sentence Police say the youth was held for a bail hearing. The Ontario Provincial Police says the escort is set to begin at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30th. It will travel eastbound along Highway 401 from Toronto to Oshawa. Those wishing to show their support are encouraged to gather safely on overpasses between Keele Street and Thickson Road South. First responders are also expected to be present along the route. Police are reminding drivers not to stop on Highway 401 or exit their vehicles, and to avoid any actions that could disrupt traffic flow or create unsafe conditions. | Small Town News | A Division of Small Town Productions | A 28-year-old woman is facing a robbery charge following an incident in Belleville’s west end on Saturday afternoon. According to Belleville Police, officers responded to a business at approximately 2:39 p.m. on April 26th after receiving a report of a robbery. Police say a female entered the store, selected merchandise, and left without attempting to pay. When confronted by an employee, the suspect allegedly assaulted the worker before fleeing the area. A couple who witnessed the incident, by the name of Rose & Shawn Desrochers, spoke with Small Town News, saying they observed the incident unfold, reporting that the female assaulted a male employee and allegedly pushed him toward traffic near the intersection of James Street and Bridge Street West. The witnesses stated they first ensured the employee was safe before following the suspect in a vehicle and providing police with her location, along with photo evidence to assist in the investigation. The stolen merchandise was reported by the witness to be alcohol. Officers later reviewed surveillance footage and were able to identify a suspect. Later that same day, police were called to an apartment complex in the west end regarding an unwanted person, where they located the same individual believed to be involved in the earlier incident and took her into custody. As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Belleville woman with no fixed address has been charged with robbery with violence. She was held for a bail hearing. Police have not released further details at this time. Police say that on April 19th, 2026, officers received several complaints regarding a vehicle unable to maintain its lane while travelling along County Road 25 in the Municipality of Trent Hills. The reports indicated that the manner of driving raised immediate concerns for public safety. Officers responded to the area and were subsequently able to locate the vehicle in the Township of Cramahe. A traffic stop was conducted, and an investigation into the driver’s condition and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle was initiated. As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old male from Curve Lake First Nation was arrested and charged with impaired driving-related offences under the Criminal Code. In addition to the charges laid, police confirmed that the driver’s licence was suspended for a period of 90 days, and the involved vehicle was impounded for seven days in accordance with provincial legislation. The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the court in June, where the matter will be addressed through the judicial process.
