Expanded Toll Zones
Starting January 1, 2025, the 407 Express Toll Route (ETR) will transition from four toll zones to twelve, introducing a more granular system aimed at better managing traffic flow and volumes.
New Vehicle Classifications
A new vehicle classification system will come into effect:
Motorcycles: Will incur lower tolls than sedans and SUVs.
Medium-Sized Vehicles: Larger trucks, vans, and SUVs towing trailers will face higher tolls.
Toll Rate Increases
Light vehicle tolls will increase by 3 to 14 cents per kilometer, depending on the time of day and the zone traveled.
Fee Adjustments
Additional fees will also rise:
Transponder Lease Fee: Annual cost will increase to $29.50 plus tax.
Camera Charge and Account Fee: These fees will also see adjustments.
Most personal transponder customers can expect their monthly bills to rise by approximately $8.
Promotional Offers
To alleviate congestion on alternate routes during peak times, the 407 ETR plans to offer promotional driving credits of up to $50 per month for eligible users.
Key Objectives
The new changes aim to enhance traffic management and ensure toll rates more accurately reflect each vehicle's impact on the roadway.
