A 56-year-old Belleville man has been arrested and charged following a stabbing investigation in the city’s west end. According to information released by Belleville Police today, officers responded to an apartment complex on May 16th at approximately 10:00 a.m. after receiving a call for service regarding a stabbing.

A 39-year-old Belleville man is facing impaired driving-related charges after police say a vehicle attempted to avoid a RIDE program before crashing in the city’s east end. In a media release issued today, Belleville Police say, officers were conducting a RIDE program on May 16th at approximately 1:00 a.m. when they observed a vehicle make a U-turn and accelerate quickly in the opposite direction.

The Northumberland OPP is appealing to the public for assistance following the theft of a community pantry in Campbellford (a Trent Hills Community) that was used to support residents in need. According to police, officers received a report shortly after 5:30 p.m. on May 18th, 2026, regarding the theft of a community pantry located on Bridge Street West in the Municipality of Trent Hills. Belleville Police reported four separate impaired driving arrests over a three day period, with incidents involving suspected alcohol impairment, drug impairment, dangerous driving behaviour, and a fail to remain collision. The arrests took place between May 8th and May 10th in different areas of the city.

A police procession will take place today to honour fallen Ontario Provincial Police Sergeant Brandon Malcolm, with members of the public and emergency services expected to gather along parts of the route in tribute.
