HEAT WARNING EXTENDED | BELLEVILLE ONTARIO & SURROUNDING AREAS


As most of you may have noticed it is another scorcher out there today. The Heat Warning that was in effect for Saturday & Sunday has been extended until Tuesday. The following report comes from Environment Canada at 6:15am this morning.

Heat Warning in effect for:

  • Belleville - Quinte West - Eastern Northumberland County

  • Cobourg - Colborne - Western Northumberland County

Extreme Heat is expected to continue today. With the Humidex today temperatures are expected to reach approximately 40 degrees. Relief from humidity and cooler temperatures are expected on Tuesday (hopefully) Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high-risk category.


Watch for the effects of heat illness in your friends and loved ones: Symptoms Include; swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, Fatigue, heat stroke and the worsening of other possible health conditions. Make sure to drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place. Check on older family members, friends and neighbours. Make sure they are cool and drinking water frequently. Never leave children, senior citizens or pets inside a parked vehicle on a hot day. In rare circumstances, these situations have resulted in death due. Outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks in a cool place and stay hydrated. (Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion)
