Police Incident Closes Highway 7 in Havelock —Public Asked to Avoid the Area

Havelock, ON – Ontario Provincial Police closed a section of Highway 7 in Havelock on Thursday evening due to an active investigation involving a barricaded suspect.


Officers from Peterborough and Northumberland OPP responded to reports of an armed individual at a residence on Ottawa Street. One handgun was located at the scene, and a woman was found with minor injuries. No further details about the suspect or the nature of the incident have been confirmed at this time.


As a safety precaution, nearby residents were instructed to shelter in place, and a police command post has been set up near the Foodland on Highway 7. The Emergency Response Team and K-9 unit remain active in the area.


Police are asking the public to avoid the area and to not post any photos or videos of officers, as the situation remains ongoing.
