Update #4: As of 7am on April 28th, the 401 has reopened.
Update #3: We have received reports that an OPP officer on a motorbike has been pronounced deceased. The closure going eastbound is expected to last for several hours.
Update #2: There has been another set of collisions near Port Hope going eastbound, and the other one is in Cobourg across the eastbound Lanes. Eastbound 401 is fully closed.
Update #1: The collision westbound has been cleared, and the highway has one lane open. Delays are still expected, but traffic is moving.

A collision on the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Cobourg has resulted in a full closure of the roadway.
The incident occurred in the area of County Road 45, also known as Division Street, near Baltimore Road.
As a result, all westbound lanes are currently closed while emergency crews respond at the scene.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and plan alternate routes.
Traffic delays are expected as responders work to manage the situation and safely clear the roadway.
