A Peterborough vape shop was targeted in a suspected arson attack in the early morning hours on Thursday, February 5th, adding to growing concerns over violence against legal vape retailers in the city.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., a local vape retailer in Peterborough called Dash Vapes was intentionally set on fire, along with another vape shop located nearby just recently. No injuries were reported, but the incident has alarmed business owners and workers in the area.

Dash Vapes owner Shai Bekman says the attack is part of a troubling pattern of violence aimed at legitimate vape stores in Peterborough.
“In the last three months alone, there have been five violent attacks on legitimate vape stores in Peterborough, including arson and firebombing,” Bekman said.
In a public statement and open letter to local leaders and law enforcement, Bekman described the situation as both dangerous and personal.
“These are not isolated incidents. They are not accidents. They are part of a growing pattern that anyone paying attention can see,” he wrote.
Bekman emphasized that Dash Vapes employs local workers including parents and students who should not have to fear for their safety simply because they work in a legal business.
He urged officials and the community to take the situation seriously before someone is hurt.
$50,000 reward for information
Dash Vapes says it believes it knows who is responsible for the arson and is offering a $50,000 reward for any lead that results in an arrest.
