Small Town News | A Division of Small Town Productions

In a major step forward for fire crews and the community, Marmora & Lake Fire and Emergency Services has confirmed that the HAL018 wildfire is now classified as “Held.” After days of relentless effort, this designation marks a turning point in the fight against the blaze.

The wildfire, which has burned 12.8 hectares, is now under control enough to prevent any further spread. Flames remain visible in a small, contained area, but with minimal risk of growth thanks to the hard work of crews on the ground and in the air. Four Ministry of Natural Resources crews are actively stationed at the site, supported by ongoing aerial suppression.

The recent 5 mm of rainfall added a welcome assist, helping to clear lingering smoke from the forest and making conditions safer for firefighters. The once-thick haze over the treetops has thinned, revealing a brighter sky and greener landscape, signs of a forest reclaiming its peace.

For residents and responders alike, this update brings a collective sigh of relief and a well-earned moment to celebrate the tireless dedication of those on the front lines.

Further updates will be shared as new information becomes available.
