Bancroft Forest Fire Reaches Marmora and Lake Township

Fire officials, in coordination with the Township of Marmora and Lake, have confirmed that the forest fire, which began near Bancroft, has now extended into township boundaries at 12.8 Hectares in size. No residential areas are affected at this time.
Ground crews and aerial support continue to work tirelessly along the fire’s perimeter to keep it contained. While the fire’s movement into Marmora and Lake is cause for concern, containment lines remain intact, and no evacuation orders have been issued at this time.
The Township of Marmora and Lake, alongside fire officials, are urging residents to stay informed, avoid any outdoor burning, and report any new signs of fire activity immediately.
Although significant progress has been made, both fire officials and the township emphasize that the situation remains serious, and ongoing caution is essential until the blaze is fully extinguished.

August 11th, 2025: 2:25 p.m. – The MNRF has the HAL018 wildfire in Marmora and Lake completely surrounded, with crews working inward to fully suppress it. Expect more smoke in the area during operations. Drones remain prohibited, and residents are urged to keep clear of aircraft and nearby lakes. The township continues to recommend having a 72-hour emergency kit and plan ready.
August 11, 2025 9:54 a.m - The MNR has updated the Municipality of Marmora and Lake on the status of the HAL018 wildfire. As of this morning, the fire is approximately 12.8 ha in size, and there are three (3) MNR crews on site fighting the fire. The use of water bombers yesterday assisted in managing the fire on the ground. The MNR has shared that they have a hose line around the fire, but the fire remains burning.
The Municipality will provide another update following its further briefing from MNR later today. As noted earlier, please give fire and emergency personnel the room they need to do their job.
