Fire & Rescue teams from stations 1 and 4 responded to 2245 County Road 49 earlier today after a report of a barn fire. Thick black smoke was visible from the Picton Sky Bridge, signaling the fire’s severity.
Fire crews focused on preventing the fire from spreading to the adjacent house while working to extinguish the blaze. For safety, County Road 49 was temporarily reduced to a single lane. This restriction was lifted at 12:24 p.m., and both lanes have now reopened to traffic. Crews continue their clean-up and investigation efforts.
No injuries have been reported, and paramedics remained on standby throughout the operation. There’s also been no mention of livestock being involved. Further details will be released as they become available.
Authorities thank the public for their patience and cooperation during this incident.
