Belleville Man Arrested After Reported Assault Involving 12-Year-Old Girl

A 39-year-old Belleville man has been arrested after police responded to a reported assault in the city’s east end.
According to information released by Belleville Police, officers were called to the area on May 24th at approximately 5:00 p.m. for a report of an assault.
Police say their investigation found that a man had allegedly assaulted a 12-year-old girl who was known to him.
The incident reportedly included the little girl being grabbed by the shoulder, choked, and threatened.
As a result of the investigation, the 39-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:
Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
Assault
Assault causing bodily harm by choking
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
Belleville Police have not released the name of the accused at this time and retain all rights to any information regarding the case including the accused identity.
