Belleville Man Arrested After Stabbing in Front Street Area

A 65-year-old Belleville man is facing assault charges following a domestic dispute and a stabbing in the Front Street area on September 10th, 2026.
Belleville Police responded to the area at approximately 9:40 p.m. after receiving a report of a domestic dispute. Officers spoke with a woman outside a business who reported that a man had grabbed her by the throat during an altercation inside.
According to police, the two left the area separately following the incident.
While officers were investigating, police received a separate call reporting a stabbing involving the same man at an apartment above the business.
Officers attended and found a male victim in the hallway suffering from stab-related injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries police described as serious but non-life-threatening.
Police subsequently located the suspect inside his apartment and took him into custody without further incident.
As a result of the investigation, the 65-year-old Belleville man was charged with:
Assault with a weapon
Assault - spousal
He was held for a bail hearing.
