In information released on June 18th by the Belleville Police Service, we learned that a Belleville man is facing serious charges following an alleged stabbing that left another man with significant injuries.

According to police, officers responded to an apartment complex on Sidney Street at approximately 5:26 a.m. on June 16th after receiving reports of a weapons-related incident.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from stab-related injuries. Investigators say the victim reported that an individual entered his residence through a bedroom window and stabbed him with a knife while he was asleep.

The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries for treatment.

Police initially searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. A short time later, officers found the suspect walking on Sidney Street and arrested him at gunpoint without incident.

As officers continued their investigation, they learned that earlier in the night, police had received a separate report from another male who alleged that his keys had been stolen by the same individual who was later found injured.

As a result of the investigation, 31-year-old Mitchel Daley-Brown of Belleville has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault

  • Break and Enter with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence

Daley-Brown was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
