Belleville Man Charged After Allegedly Fleeing Collision on Foot

A 55-year-old Belleville man is facing charges after police say he fled the scene of a two-vehicle collision in the city’s west end.
On July 15th, 2026, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Belleville Police responded to a collision near Wallbridge Crescent and Moira Street West.
When officers arrived, they found a damaged vehicle near the intersection. According to police, another vehicle had allegedly been travelling at a high rate of speed when it struck the vehicle.
Witnesses reported seeing the suspect vehicle continue driving despite sustaining damage in the collision. The driver allegedly turned onto Murney Street, abandoned the vehicle and fled the area on foot.
Officers searched the surrounding area and located the male suspect at approximately 7:44 p.m. near Bridge Street West and Sidney Street. He was taken into custody without incident.
As a result of the investigation, Allen Martell, a 55-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:
• Failure to stop after an accident
• Dangerous operation
Martell was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in October.
