Belleville Man Charged After Axe Incident at North Front Street Business

A Belleville man is facing weapons-related charges after police responded to reports of a male walking along Front Street with an axe.
Belleville Police say officers were called on April 30th at approximately 2:58 p.m. after receiving reports that a male was walking alone up Front Street while swinging an axe.
While officers were on their way, police say a business on North Front Street reported that the same individual had entered the business and slammed the axe onto the counter.
Officers located the suspect and made an arrest.
As a result of the investigation, Kenneth Casselman, 48, of Belleville, of no fixed address, was charged with:
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
Mischief, interferes with any person in the lawful use of property
Casselman was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in July.
No injuries were reported in the information provided by police.
