Belleville Man Charged After Firearm Allegedly Pointed During East-End Altercation

A 47-year-old Belleville man is facing weapons charges following an altercation in the city’s east end Thursday evening.
On July 9th, 2026, at approximately 9:32 p.m., Belleville Police responded to a report of an individual in possession of a firearm.
Police were advised that a physical altercation had occurred between two individuals when a third man allegedly intervened and pointed a firearm at those involved. All three individuals then fled the area on foot.
Officers reviewed video surveillance footage and reportedly observed the suspect in possession of what appeared to be a firearm before leaving the scene.
Police located the man a short distance away and placed him under arrest. However, officers did not locate a firearm.
As a result of the investigation, a 47-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address was charged with:
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Pointing a Firearm
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
