Belleville Man Charged After Pellet Gun Allegedly Stolen From Business

Belleville Police have charged a 27-year-old Belleville man following an investigation into the alleged theft of a pellet gun from a Bell Boulevard business.
Police began their official investigation into a reported theft that occured allegedly on July 4th, on July 18th. The incident allegedly occurred when an unknown male entered the store and requested a pellet gun from a locked cabinet.
An employee provided the item to the male, who allegedly moved away from staff supervision. Surveillance footage reportedly showed the suspect concealing the pellet gun inside his clothing before leaving the store without paying.
Through the investigation, officers identified a suspect and learned that he was subject to multiple prohibition orders preventing him from possessing firearms.
At approximately 4:17 p.m. on July 19th, Belleville Police observed the suspect walking in the Front Street area.
The 27-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:
Theft under $5,000
Nine counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
He was held for a bail hearing.
