Belleville Man Charged Following Alleged Theft Investigation on Dundas Street East

The Belleville Police Service has charged a 65-year-old man following an alleged theft investigation connected to a business on Dundas Street East earlier this month.
Police say the incident was reported on May 12th after a male allegedly entered the store, filled a shopping cart with merchandise, and left the business without making any attempt to pay.
Following an investigation, officers identified a suspect. On May 26th at approximately 6:26 p.m., police located and arrested the individual.
As a result, Wayne Shanks, age 65, of Belleville, has been charged with:
Theft Under $5,000
Failure to Comply with a Release Order
Police say the accused was later released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in August.
