Belleville Man Charged Following Assault on Dundas Street West

A 34-year-old Belleville man is facing an assault charge following an incident on Dundas Street West Sunday night.
According to the Belleville Police Service, officers responded to a report of an assault at a business in the area at approximately 9:15 p.m. on May 25th.
Police say a man was sitting inside his vehicle when another man approached and began a verbal confrontation. The dispute allegedly escalated when the suspect punched the victim before fleeing the area on foot.
Shortly after the incident, officers received a separate complaint involving a man in the same area who was reportedly yelling threats. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and determined the individual was the same suspect involved in the earlier assault.
As a result of the investigation, Chad Owen, age 34, of Belleville, was located and arrested. He has been charged with assault.
Police say Owen was later released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in August.
