Belleville Man Charged With Impaired Driving After Vehicle Strikes Pole

A Belleville man is facing impaired driving charges following a collision near Bridge Street East and Ann Street.
On July 18th at approximately 8:31 p.m., Belleville Police responded to the area after receiving a report that a vehicle had struck a pole.
Upon arrival, officers located the damaged vehicle and identified the male driver standing nearby. Police spoke with the driver and reportedly observed signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, Robert Thompson, a 61-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:
Operation while impaired - alcohol
Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams
Thompson was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in August.
