Belleville Police Dog Bax Apprehends Wanted Man in Wooded Area

A Belleville man wanted on outstanding arrest warrants was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after attempting to leave a wooded area while officers were placing him under arrest.
On July 16th, 2026, at approximately 4:34 p.m., Belleville Police were dispatched to the area of North Front Street and Bell Boulevard after receiving information that a man known to have outstanding warrants had entered a wooded area.
Officers entered the woods and began searching for the man. At approximately 4:41 p.m., police located him sitting in the area and advised him that he was under arrest.
According to police, the man stood up and began attempting to leave but was quickly apprehended by Belleville Police Service Dog Bax.
Officers were then able to complete the arrest.
As a result, Adam Brownson, a 42-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address, was arrested on the strength of outstanding Belleville Police Service warrants.
Brownson was held in custody for a bail hearing.
