Belleville Woman Charged After Police Respond to Reports of a Female With Knife

A 21-year-old woman has been charged after Belleville Police responded to a report of a woman with a knife outside a business on College Street East.
On August 10th at approximately 7:15 p.m., members of the Belleville Police Service were called to the area after receiving a report of a woman in possession of a knife.
Police were advised that the woman had allegedly been requesting money from patrons outside the business while in possession of the weapon.
Officers attended the scene and located the woman. Police confirmed that she was in possession of a knife and took her into custody without incident.
Charges
As a result of the investigation, 21-year-old Jada Sweet, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with:
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Sweet was later released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in November.
