Belleville Woman Charged Following Indecent Act Complaint

Belleville Police announced today that a 52-year-old local woman is facing several charges after officers responded to a report of an indecent act in the city’s east end on Friday afternoon.
According to the Belleville Police Service, officers were dispatched to the area at approximately 3:57 p.m. on June 5th after receiving reports of a female exposing herself in public.
Police located the woman shortly after arriving on scene and took her into custody following an investigation.
Officers allege that while being transported, the woman urinated inside a police vehicle. Police further reported that after being taken to a local hospital, she spat at a hospital employee.
As a result of the incidents, Melissa Maracle, 52, of Belleville, was charged with;
indecent act in a public place
mischief under $5,000
and assault.
Maracle was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in August to answer to the charges.
