Charge Laid Following Sexual Assault Investigation in Campbellford

A Campbellford man is facing a criminal charge after an investigation into an alleged sexual assault in Trent Hills.


The investigation began on February 21, 2026, after the incident was reported to police. According to the Ontario Provincial Police, the alleged assault is believed to have occurred the previous day at a commercial property on Front Street North in the Municipality of Trent Hills.


Members of the Northumberland OPP, with assistance from the OPP Crime Unit, continued investigating the complaint over the following days.


On February 27, 2026, officers took one individual into custody in connection with the case.


A 43-year-old man from Campbellford has been charged with sexual assault.


After receiving multiple reports, we can confirm the accused's name is Adam McMillan.


He was held in custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.


Police are asking anyone who believes they may have experienced a similar incident, or who has information related to the investigation, to contact the Northumberland OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Police also remind the public that there is no statute of limitations on sexual offences in Canada. Reports can be made at any time, regardless of how much time has passed.
