A Cobourg man has been arrested and charged following an investigation involving alleged child sexual abuse and drug trafficking.

According to the Cobourg Police Service, the investigation began in April 2026 after police received a report of an alleged sexual assault.

On May 12th, 2026, members of the Cobourg Police Service Criminal Investigation Bureau, with assistance from uniform officers, executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a residence on King Street East in Cobourg.

As a result of the investigation, Kevin Bandy, age 53, of Cobourg, was arrested and charged with several offences, including:

  • Administering a noxious thing / poisoning

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule I substance, methamphetamine

  • Sexual assault

  • Sexual interference

  • Child luring

  • Making / accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material

Police say Bandy was held for a show cause hearing.

Cobourg Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 905-372-6821. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 or online at stopcrimehere.ca.

Police are also reminding the public that reports involving online child exploitation can be made through Canada’s national tipline at cybertip.ca.

The Cobourg Police Service would also like to state that there is no statute of limitations for sexual offences, meaning offenders can still be prosecuted well after the date of an alleged offence.

Police encourage anyone who believes they may have been the victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report it.
