Collision Closes Westport Road in Central Frontenac

7:22pm - The road has been reopened

4:30pm - Frontenac OPP have confirmed that a 70-year-old man, who was the only person in the vehicle, has sadly passed away at the scene of the collision. Westport Road remains closed in both directions.

A section of Westport Road is closed in both directions following a single-vehicle collision on Friday afternoon.

The closure is in effect between Hinchinbrooke Road North and Old Thirteen Island Lake Road. Ontario Provincial Police say the roadway will remain shut down for several hours as crews work on cleanup.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

As of 3:08 p.m., the closure was still in place. Updates are expected as the situation develops.
