Employee Charged in Tyendinaga Sexual Assault Investigation

An individual has been charged following a sexual assault investigation conducted by the Tyendinaga Police Service.


According to police, the investigation began on February 11, 2026, after officers received a report alleging that a child had been assaulted by an employee associated with a before-and-after school program in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.


Following the investigation, police laid several charges under the Criminal Code of Canada.


The accused is facing the following charges:

  • Two counts of assault

  • One count of Sexual assault

  • One count of Sexual interference

  • One count of Sexual exploitation


Police say the identity of the accused and the name of the child care center are not being released at this time in order to protect the privacy of the victim.


Investigators are asking anyone who may have information related to this incident, or who may have knowledge of additional victims, to contact Tyendinaga Police Service at 613-967-3888.


Individuals affected by the incident who are seeking support are encouraged to contact Indigenous Victim Services at 613-967-0122.


The investigation remains ongoing.
