Fatal Collision Closes Highway 401 Westbound Near Trenton

Update: The roadway has been reopened as of 2:20 pm. The OPP thanks everyone for their patience and cooperation while the investigation was concluded.


A two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 westbound near Trenton is causing significant traffic disruptions this morning.


Emergency services responded to the Wooler Road area, following reports of a crash.


Police have confirmed that one individual has been pronounced deceased at the scene.


The collision initially resulted in the closure of the right westbound lane. As the situation developed, all westbound lanes of Highway 401 have been closed between County Road 40 and County Road 30 to allow emergency crews to safely manage the scene.


Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and expect delays as traffic control measures remain in place.


The cause of the collision has not been released. The road closure will remain in effect until the investigation is concluded.
