A Note From the Editor: Thank you for trusting us with your local news, and we apologize for our recent absence. A 32-year-old Belleville man is facing multiple charges following a firearm investigation in the city's east end.

According to the Belleville Police Service, officers responded to a report of a person in possession of a firearm at approximately 5:57 p.m. on June 25th, 2026.

As part of the investigation, officers reviewed video footage captured earlier in the day. Police say the footage showed a male suspect in possession of a firearm.

Following the investigation, officers later located the suspect and placed him under arrest.

As a result, the 32-year-old Belleville man, who is of no fixed address, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order (two counts)

  • Fail to Comply with a Probation Order (two counts)

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Belleville Police have not released the identity of the accused at this time. The decision to publicly identify an accused rests solely with the Belleville Police Service.

Should police release the individual's name at a later date, we will be sure to update this article accordingly.

If you witness a crime or suspicious activity, report it to the appropriate police service immediately, including the Belleville Police Service or the Ontario Provincial Police, depending on your location.

Prompt reporting can assist officers in responding quickly and may help prevent further harm. Your call could save a life.
