Loyalist College Hit by Cyberattack; Student Government Issues New Update

Loyalist College continues to experience disruptions following a cyberattack that was first identified on July 9th, with technical issues still affecting campus operations as staff and cybersecurity experts work to restore systems. The cyberattack was confirmed by email today from the Loyalist Student Government President, Ethan Lane.
According to the college, the cyberattack has been contained, but the investigation remains ongoing. Provincial authorities were notified shortly after the incident was discovered, and third-party cybersecurity specialists were brought in to help investigate what happened and support recovery efforts.
Although the college remains open and in-person classes continue as scheduled, online classes have been suspended until further notice while work continues behind the scenes to address the ongoing issues. OntarioLearn courses are not affected.
There will also be an information session for students and class leaders regarding the service disruption. The session will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, June 16th, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Room 2H12 (Wilkinson Lecture Theatre).
According to the email, members of Loyalist College's Deans and Associate Deans will be on hand to answer questions about the cyberattack, its impact on students, and what they can expect moving forward.
Due to the ongoing network issues, there will not be an option to attend virtually. Students who are unable to attend are encouraged to reply to the Student Government email with any questions they would like addressed. A summary of the discussion will also be shared following the meeting.

Loyalist College has not indicated when all affected services will be fully restored, but says work to restore them remains ongoing.
