One Arrested, Another Wanted After Flare Gun Fired and Knife Threats in Belleville’s East End

Our team has learned through recently released information from Belleville Police that a weekend disturbance in the city’s east end resulted in one man being arrested and another becoming the subject of an arrest warrant.
The incident reportedly involved a flare gun, a knife and damage to a residence.

Shortly after noon on Saturday, officers were called to the area of Ann and Dundas Street East, following reports of a group causing a disturbance.
According to police, witnesses reported seeing one man fire a flare gun, while another person was allegedly armed with a knife and threatening people. Others were also reportedly damaging windows at a nearby residence.
Police say approximately six people were in the home at the time of the overall disturbance. Following their investigation, officers laid charges against one man and obtained an arrest warrant for another.
During the incident, one person was reportedly struck and burned by projectiles fired from a flare gun. Another person was allegedly threatened with a knife, and damage was also caused to a home.
Police later arrested a 31-year-old man of no fixed address. He has been charged with seven offences, including:
• Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace
• Assault with a Weapon
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Pointing a Firearm
• Failure to Comply with a Probation Order
Following a weekend bail hearing, the accused was remanded into custody.
Police have also obtained a warrant for the arrest of a 38-year-old Quinte West man in connection with the incident.
He is wanted on charges of:
• Assault with a Weapon
• Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace
• Failure to Comply with a Probation Order
Minor injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Members of the public should not attempt to apprehend anyone they believe may be connected to the incident. Anyone witnessing an immediate threat or emergency should call 911.
