Quinte West OPP Lay Impaired Driving Charges

A 30-year-old Brampton man is facing multiple charges after an alleged impaired driving incident at North Beach Provincial Park on Sunday evening.


According to the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers responded to a traffic complaint at the park on June 14th, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m.


During the investigation, police allegedly determined that the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol.


The motorist was arrested and transported to the Quinte West OPP detachment for further testing. As a result of the investigation, police laid several charges under the Criminal Code and the Liquor Licence and Control Act.


Police identified the accused as Shabir NOORZAI, age 30, of Brampton. He has been charged with;


  • operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs

  • operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

  • dangerous operation, and driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.


Noorzai was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 30th, 2026.


In addition to the charges, police said the vehicle involved was impounded for seven days and the driver's licence was suspended for 90 days.


The OPP continues to encourage members of the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 9-1-1, noting that such reports can help prevent serious injuries and save lives.
