Update: As of 5:50pm Eastbound lanes on Dundas Street East have reopened and Westbound lanes should be reopening shortly. Crews will be working tomorrow morning to finish repairs. Please plan ahead and drive safe.
A Quinte West OPP officer was involved in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday morning on Dundas Street East, briefly disrupting traffic for several hours and drawing a swift response from emergency crews.
The incident occurred shortly after 10:00 a.m., when two vehicles collided and one struck a light pole, bringing down a hydro line. Crews arrived quickly to make the area safe and guide traffic around the scene.
Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported, and both drivers received care and support following the accident.
At this time, the circumstances that led up to the collision remain unclear, and out of respect for everyone involved, Small Town News does not assign or imply blame to any party.
Traffic is being redirected for a period through RCAF Road, Curtis Road, and Dixon Drive, with continued access to local businesses available through the Canadian Tire parking lot.
Our thoughts are with all those involved, including the Quinte West Officer.
Motorists are reminded to stay cautious, patient, and alert when travelling through busy areas.
