Update: At 2:41pm we received confirmation that the collision was fatal and the 26 year old Belleville man was pronounced deceased after being transported to the hospital.

A serious motor vehicle collision has forced the closure of the intersection at Herchimer Avenue and Bridge Street East in all directions Tuesday morning.
Emergency crews remain on scene as police investigate the crash. Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while the intersection remains closed.
At this time, officials have not released details regarding the number of vehicles involved or whether there have been any injuries.
