A stolen transport truck has been recovered by the Northumberland OPP following a pursuit along Highway 401 that ended in two arrests.
Around 6:20 a.m. on Monday, officers received reports that a tractor-trailer stolen from Cornwall was heading west on Highway 401 near Belleville. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver failed to comply and exited at County Road 25 in Cramahe Township.
After the vehicle was abandoned, both occupants ran from the scene. The OPP’s K9 Unit was deployed to assist in the search, and the suspects were located shortly afterward.
Two Caledon residents were arrested. Gurmanveer Sing, 25, is facing multiple charges including theft of a motor vehicle, theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property, possession of break-in tools, dangerous driving, flight from police, and resisting arrest.
Anshdeep Kang, 21, has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property, possession of break-in tools, mischief, and resisting arrest.
Both individuals remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in court in Cobourg for bail hearings.
