Stolen Vehicles, Gas Theft and Police Pursuit Under Investigation in Belleville

Belleville Police are investigating a series of incidents involving stolen vehicles, a gas theft, and a suspect who allegedly fled from officers at a high rate of speed.
On July 19th at approximately 10:20 a.m., police received a report that a male had attended a gas station in the Bell Boulevard area and left without paying for fuel.
Further investigation determined that the vehicle being operated by the suspect had been reported stolen.
At approximately 1:39 p.m., officers located the suspect vehicle travelling near Millennium Parkway and Sidney Street. Police observed a driver who reportedly matched surveillance footage from the earlier gas theft.
Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly evaded police and fled at a high rate of speed.
Police reported that the suspect continued driving recklessly and failed to stop for red lights along Bell Boulevard. A brief pursuit was initiated but was discontinued in the interest of public safety.
Officers continued observing the vehicle’s direction of travel and later located it abandoned and damaged on Donald Street. The suspect was not located.
Shortly afterward, police responded to another location on Donald Street following a report of a stolen delivery truck.
The delivery driver reported seeing a shirtless male enter the truck and drive away.
Police also received additional reports of a male operating a delivery van near Riverside Park before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot.
Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Belleville Police Service at 613-966-0882.
