UPDATE: The collision does seem to have been fatal, our thought and sincerest condolences go out to the family at this time.
Emergency services responded Monday morning to a serious collision between a truck and a CN freight train at the rural crossing of Hunt Road and Highway 2 in Brighton.
The crash occurred just before 8 a.m. when the truck was struck and overturned by the train while crossing the tracks. The train came to a full stop immediately after the impact, prompting an urgent response from Northumberland OPP, Cramahe Township firefighters, and paramedics.
