UPDATE: Unfortunately the person that was struck by the train has been pronounced deceased. Our sincerest condolences go out to the family and friends.
COBOURG, ON (June 6, 2025) — Earlier today around 2:13pm a person was reportedly struck by a train near the rail crossing at Burnham Street and Westwood Drive in Cobourg, prompting a significant emergency response.
Cobourg Police Service officers remain on scene as they conduct an active investigation into the incident. The rail crossing is currently closed, and a heavy police presence is expected to remain in the area for several more hours.
Members of the public are being urged to avoid the area to allow emergency services to work safely and efficiently.
As of this time, no additional information regarding the identity of the individual has been released.
