Two Youths Charged After Loaded Firearm and Drugs Seized in Belleville Weapons Investigation

A weapons-related investigation in downtown Belleville has led to the arrest of two 17-year-olds after police say officers located a loaded firearm, suspected drugs, and cash.
According to the Belleville Police Service, officers responded to the area of Front Street on May 5 at approximately 2:14 a.m. after receiving a report of an altercation involving unknown weapons.
When officers arrived, police say the suspects had already fled the area. Officers began investigating and attended a nearby business, where two males believed to be involved were located.
While speaking with them, officers discovered that one of the males was allegedly in possession of a loaded firearm. Both males were arrested and taken into custody without incident.
As part of the investigation, police say the following items were seized:
72 grams of fentanyl
2 grams of cocaine
58.5 Tylenol 3 pills with codeine
44 Xanax pills
17 unknown pills
One 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun with eight 9mm bullets and a magazine
$4,434.55 in Canadian currency

Charges Laid
A 17-year-old male from Hamilton, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and charged with several offences, including:
Careless use of a firearm
Carrying a concealed weapon
Possession of a firearm knowing the serial number had been tampered with
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
Possession of a loaded restricted firearm
Unauthorized possession of a firearm
Possession of a Schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking, Xanax
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, cocaine
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, codeine
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, fentanyl
Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
A 17-year-old male from Courtice, whose identity is also protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and charged with:
Possession of a firearm knowing the serial number had been tampered with
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
Possession of a loaded restricted firearm
Unauthorized possession of a firearm
Possession of a Schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking, Xanax
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, cocaine
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, codeine
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, fentanyl
Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
Both youths were held for a bail hearing.
Police have not released the names of either accused.
Their identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
