Belleville Police arrested a woman Saturday morning after responding to a disturbance inside an east-end apartment building.
On November 30th, at around 9:39 a.m., officers were called to the lobby of the building following reports that someone had been tampering with security cameras and hanging clothing inside the entrance.
When officers arrived, they found a woman in the lobby where clothing had been placed around the door. Police also noted burn marks on several security cameras. Officers informed the woman that she needed to leave the property, but the situation escalated when she began consuming a rock-like substance from a glass pipe and then pulled out a knife.
The woman was immediately arrested, and officers seized approximately one gram of crystal methamphetamine.
A 39-year-old Belleville woman with no fixed address has been charged with:
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
Mischief under $5,000
Arson – damage to property
Possession of a Schedule I substance (methamphetamine)
She was held for a bail hearing.
