A 28-year-old woman is facing a theft charge following a shoplifting incident reported at a business in Belleville’s north end.
According to Belleville Police, officers were called to the store on April 13th at approximately 6:27 p.m. after staff reported observing a woman conceal merchandise and leave the premises without paying.
Police say surveillance footage was reviewed, which allegedly showed the woman placing items into a bag before exiting the store.
As a result of the investigation, Mercedes Rushlow-Stratton, age 28, of no fixed address, was located and taken into custody. She has been charged with theft under $5,000.
The accused was later released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in June.
