Youth Charged After Knife-Related Threats Reported in Belleville

Belleville Police have charged a local youth following an incident in a city park that involved threats and a weapon.
On November 24th at approximately 10:30 p.m., police received a report that three youths had approached a male in a local park. During the interaction, one of the youths allegedly brandished a knife and made threatening comments toward the individual.
Following an investigation, officers were able to identify the suspect and informed him of the grounds for his arrest.
As a result, on November 25th, a 16-year-old Belleville male, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and charged with:
Uttering threats
Assault with a weapon
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
