FREEZING RAIN WARNING | BELLEVILLE & SURROUNDING AREA

Hello everyone, there is a freezing rain warning in effect today, Tuesday, January 17th, 2023. There will be a mixture of rain and hail throughout the day. The Freezing Rain Warning was issues by Environment Canada. Please see the report below for the full details;

  • Bancroft

  • Bon Echo Park

  • Brockville

  • Leeds and Grenville

  • Burk's Falls

  • Bayfield Inlet

  • Haliburton

  • Kingston

  • Prince Edward

  • Parry Sound

  • Muskoka

  • Peterborough

  • Kawartha Lakes

  • Stirling

  • Tweed

  • South Frontenac

Freezing rain is expected this morning. Hazard: Freezing rain creating icy road conditions Timing: This morning & afternoon Discussion: A period of freezing rain possibly mixed with snow this morning. A few millimeters of ice accretion is possible on some surfaces. Freezing rain is expected to change over to light rain this afternoon and switch back to freezing rain this evening in some areas.


Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. This Special Weather Statement is in effect until Wednesday 12:24 AM EST


It is advised to stay home if possible today and not to travel unless absolutely necessary. If you do find yourself out on the road, drive with extreme caution. Always make sure to give extra braking distance when the weather is harsh and icy conditions are possible. If there is a shimmer or shine on the roads be sure to slow down. Lastly, make sure if you are driving to leave extra time to get to your destination.
