One Person Found Deceased After House Fire in Napanee

A life has been lost following a house fire in Napanee, leaving family, friends, and neighbours grieving after a sudden and devastating tragedy.
On Saturday evening, February 7, shortly before 9:30 p.m., a fire broke out at a home on Switzerville Road.
Napanee firefighters were already on scene battling heavy flames when members of the Lennox & Addington County OPP arrived.
A 65-year-old man, who lived in the residence, did not make it out. Firefighters later located human remains inside the home. A postmortem examination will be conducted to confirm the identity.
Two men, ages 59 and 34, who also lived in the home, were able to escape the burning chaos. The 59-year-old was forced to jump from a second-floor balcony to get away from the smoke and fire and was immediately transported to hospital in critical condition. The 34-year-old was deemed not seriously injured after physical assessments were made.
Fire crews remained on scene through the night, and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
