Belleville Police provided an update today, March 27th, regarding a lockdown that occurred on March 26th at Centennial Secondary School.

According to police, officers were called to the school after receiving a report of an individual believed to be in possession of a firearm inside the building.

Police attended the scene and located a male youth nearby. He was taken into custody without incident. Investigators later confirmed the firearm involved was a replica. Officers also reported seizing several knives.

Through the investigation, police say the youth had allegedly displayed what appeared to be a firearm to others while keeping it concealed under his clothing. It is further alleged that threats were made, including statements instructing others not to leave the area.

As a result, a 15-year-old male from Belleville has been charged with multiple offences.

The name of the accused has not been released in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Charges include:

  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm (two counts)

  • Assault with a weapon (two counts)

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

  • Using an imitation firearm while committing an offence

  • Forcible confinement

Police confirm the accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Seriously better investigate as to what pushed him to the point of feeling as though he needed to do this. Not saying at all that what he's done is okay. However, there's a reason this happened. The kids that do the things like this are always subject to abuse by there classmates and sometimes the teachers as well. No child wakes up one day and decides "hey, today's a good day to potentially harm/kill or severely injure there classmates and fellow attendees to there school. Hopefully he can get some proper help for this. As well the school be held accountable because they are also responsible for this. There's no acceptable reason as to why he a) was able to…

I came to comment the same thing. Thank you .. although I fear most of the time the will always blame the scapegoat and say its bc he has mental health issues. Thats what happened to me with my family and I dont speak to any of them anymore. Still dealing with the consequences bc I had to get a new doctor and everything after bc old one would not listen to me when i told them how my family was abusing me. Now im finally being heard after 34 years, but i couldnt save my sister and she committed suicide at 24 years old. The system needs an update that's for sure.
