Belleville Police Urge Caution After Multiple Collisions Reported

The Belleville Police Service is reminding drivers to stay alert and make safety a priority following a total of seven motor vehicle collisions reported on October 22.
While none of the incidents resulted in serious injuries, police say it’s an important reminder of how quickly accidents can happen when focus slips behind the wheel.
As traffic volumes increase and fall weather brings changing road conditions, officers are stepping up RIDE initiatives and Focused Patrols across the Quinte Region. These efforts aim to deter unsafe driving behaviours and keep everyone on the road accountable.
Community Safety Starts Behind the Wheel
Police are urging motorists to take small but meaningful steps to prevent future collisions:
Plan ahead to avoid impaired driving — arrange a safe, sober ride before heading out.
Buckle up every time, and ensure all passengers do the same.
Follow posted speed limits and traffic signs to reduce the risk of crashes.
Keep distractions out of reach, especially cell phones and other devices.
Watch for pedestrians and cyclists, particularly in neighborhoods and near schools.
Authorities stress that road safety is a shared responsibility; one that depends on every driver making conscious, careful choices.
“Even one preventable collision is one too many,” police noted. “By staying alert and looking out for each other, we can all help ensure everyone makes it home safely.”
Stay Informed, Stay Safe
The Belleville Police Service encourages residents to report unsafe driving or hazardous road conditions whenever they are observed. Sharing accurate information helps officers respond quickly and prevent future incidents.
Community members are also encouraged to spread safety awareness — whether that’s reminding a friend to buckle up, sharing road safety posts on social media, or discussing local concerns with neighbors.
Together, by keeping each other informed and mindful, the community can help make Belleville’s roads safer for everyone.
