A Hamilton woman is facing impaired driving charges following an investigation by the Belleville Police Service on the evening of June 14th.
Official details were confirmed by our team this morning.
According to police, at approximately 10:05 p.m., two officers were conducting patrols in the area of Dundas Street West when they stopped at a local business.
While one officer entered the establishment, the second officer remained in the police cruiser.
During that time, the officer observed a vehicle drive over a parking curb before quickly leaving the area. Shortly afterward, officers were approached by an individual who reported that the female driver had allegedly consumed mushrooms prior to operating the vehicle.
Based on the information received and the officer's observations, police began searching the area for the vehicle. A short time later, officers located the vehicle at a nearby business and identified the driver.
As the investigation progressed, officers formed reasonable grounds to believe the woman's ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired. She was subsequently arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service headquarters for further testing and investigation.
As a result, 29-year-old Camisha Quilty of Hamilton has been charged with;
Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs
Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80 mg.
Quilty was later released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the court in July.
