  • WORKER DEAD FOLLOWING ACCIDENT | BELLEVILLE ONTARIO

    One person has sadly passed away following an incident at the 640 College Street East construction site in Belleville’s Industrial Park over the weekend. Small Town Productions has received details from various sources regarding the tragedy. The one million square foot industrial warehouse is currently under construction and is rumoured to be an Amazon Distribution Centre. The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills has been notified of the incident and has confirmed the death of one person. The ministry has shared its condolences with the deceased's friends and family. The company overseeing the project, KCK Contracting, has been given two ministry orders. Broccolini Construction and secondary employers Canam Group Inc., and Enterprises Eric Lemire Inc., have also received ministry requirements, though these have not been made public. This is Sunny, he is a large one-year-old Hungarian kuvasz, last seen on January 20th near Hastings Ontario off of Centre Line Hastings between 6th and 7th line Asphodel. The family is worried sick about their boy hoping he will make it back home soon. He was originally on the family farm in Bailieboro Ontario when he took off after some large dear. The family has been in contact with the breeder who estimates these dogs can travel up to 75 kilometers a day according to the average for that breed of dog. There have also been sightings near Campbellford Ontario of a dog that may be the same one or at least a very similar breed. This family is refusing to give up hope and know that they will see their furry companion again soon. If you see Sunny (from the above photo) please call them at 416-576-0887 They urge the public that Sunny is very friendly and means no harm to anyone. They ask you not to approach him and call their number if sighted, just in case he gets spooked off into a new area.     On Sunday January 22nd there is a planned outage for Hydro One Customers. The outage will affect several areas near the Quinte Region. These areas include; The Quinte & Quinte West Regions (including Belleville,Trenton and the surrounding townships), as well as the Tyendinaga and Stirling-Rawdon Townships. The outage is expected to start at 7:00 am and is expected to be complete by 1 pm. The outage is due to maintenance needed on a transformer in the Quinte Area. The outage will affect 8,342 customers approximately all under the Trenton 3B East Central zone. It is advised during this time to minimize opening and closing of fridges/freezers and to keep doors closed as often as possible to retain/keep the heat inside. If you have propane, oil or a wood stove you will be sitting okay as the outage will not be longer than a day. It is advised if you mainly use electric heat to think of other options or to once again keep your doors closed as often as possible.
