Justice for Phoebe: Family Seeks Answers After Hit-and-Run in Belleville Area

A local family is pleading for the public’s help after their beloved dog, Phoebe, was struck by a red Ford pickup truck on their street last night.

The dog’s owner, who operates Candid Confidence Photography, says the incident has left their family shaken and heartbroken.

According to witnesses, the driver, described as an older white male in his late 50s to early 60s, with white hair and a beard, was seen speeding down the residential street before hitting Phoebe.

When confronted, witnesses say the man laughed and drove away without offering assistance.

“You didn’t just hit a dog; you hit a member of our family,” said the owner of Candid Confidence Photography. “My children were right there. We watched it happen. It was cruel and heartless.”

Phoebe survived the incident but sustained serious injuries. The family says she is receiving medical care but faces a difficult and costly recovery. They have shared a photo to highlight the impact of the accident.

With the owner’s permission, a donation fund has been established in Phoebe’s name to help cover her ongoing medical expenses. Every contribution will go directly to her care and recovery.

The truck involved is described as a red Ford pickup, possibly displaying a plate beginning with the numbers 916, believed to be a dealer or Alberta plate. The vehicle reportedly did not have a front license plate.

Local authorities have been notified and are currently investigating.

The family is asking the public to share information to help identify the driver and bring accountability for Phoebe’s suffering.

“Please — if you saw this truck or know who it belongs to, contact the police. Phoebe deserves justice, and this driver needs to be held responsible,” the owner added.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Belleville Police Service at (613) 966-0882 or reach Crime Stoppers Quinte anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
